The Lie that Saved Me
INTRODUCTION |

Erudite steemians, greetings
I'm so grateful today to join this impacable contest "The Lie That Saved Me" organized by @bossj23. The name of the contest alone explains a whole lots already about life and it's effects. But I really want to create my content from the view which describes "doing what is right and what is favourable".
The above phrase is worth debating on because it emcommpasses both what is beneficial to everyone and what is beneficial to oneself.
THE LIE THAT SAVED ME |
---|
Pointing from the contest name, you'll agree with me that the lie that saved me already is what is favourable and not what is right because the word lie commemorates what will favour an individual or group of individuals making plans work the way they expected.
A lie is a necessity (i.e, a need) and not a want in the sense that it is something that one has to do inorder to safe himself or herself from harm, blame, problem, foreseen circumstances, to increase income, e.t.c
Doing what is right commemorates truth, loyalty, humility, trustworthiness, which encompasses everything good in the society and also favours the decision for the good of all. Favourable means good for something or making it likely to be successful, it is to the advantage of something or someone. Doing what is favourable can turn out to be a sin and converted to a lie. It might not actually be a lie but just to put an end to a problem at the moment.
With the little introduction above, you'll all agree with me that we're living in a patriarchal society, a society in which people are subjugated by some forms of religion. The super structure makes rules in favour of themselves, they use these rules to give the working class what we may call fulga magsism
Having known the above, we venture into the questions of the contest:
Have you ever been caught telling a lie? If yes, can you recall some of those lies and how it affected you positively or negatively?
Since I am into business, there certain lies I tell either knowingly or unknowingly just to fit to my business and profit desires. I have been caught telling lies severally. My business is more of electronic appliances and we all know how electronics operate, they can malfunction at any instance due to poor usage, lighting source, electric current and other environmental hindrances. So now, telling a customer about a particular product like in terms of the durability, validity and working preferences based on past experience. But due to one thing or the other, the product works in ways different from what you told your customer. This may be caused in the course of the production proper from the production company. The customer may likely see it as a lie which to me as the businessman, it is not intentional. This can lead to lack of trust on my path to my customers which will inflict a negative effect in my business.
Another lie is also portrayed in multiple choice product. I do have similar products produced by different companies and we know, that the price and quality cannot be the same. But, I will look for a way to convince the customer to get the inferior one at the same price with the original one. The effects of this particular lie is both positive and negative in that I will use this strategy to maximize my profit (positive effect) but at the same time I will end up tanishing my image, destroying my brand and causing lack of trust and regrets on the path of my customers (negative effects).
Does it pay to lie? Are deceitful jokes considered as lies?
There are two questions here and I'll answer them simultaneously.
First, it is very clear and well known that it pays to lie though the payment is both ways, positive and negative. The positivity and negativity of your lie depends on the extent, context and perspective to which it is implemented.
Second, let's take for instance "I'm not lazy, I'm just on energy saving mode" as a decietful joke. The above phrase is so clever which to some extent can be considered as trust. But, come to think of it, what has energy saving mode?🙄😹 instead of coming out plain that you don't want to do a particular thing. From the above, it is already illustrated clearly that deceitful jokes are lies.
Tell us your experience - the lie that saved you
There is this day, my dad asked me to go and buy petrol so it can be used to pump water. He gave me #2000 worth two litters of petrol which would have successfully as usual filled our three GEEPEE tanks with water. On reaching the filling station, I deducted #500 and end up buying petrol of #1500 which I knew very well that it won't be enough to fill the three tanks to the brim. As predicted, the petrol was not enough. So when the generator went off without filling the tanks, my dad asked me how much petrol I got and I told him that I got petrol with all the money he gave me. Initially he was curious but later believed when he also narrated his story about the experience he had with that particular filling station's meter when he got petrol for his car from them. In my mind, I was like "yes, I've succeeded". It was a very nice experience but I vowed never to try it again because I never can tell, I might be caught some other time.
A woman told a customer that the price of a product is worth 100 steems whereas the price of that product is 80 steems, is she lying or doing business?
One thing we should understand is that prices of products varies depending on when, where and how it is being bought and mobilized for sales.
Considering the above fact, the woman might not be lying. But in a situation where the woman got it at the same place that someone selling at the rate of 80 steems got hers, then the woman is lying, that is not business.
We all understand that people do business to maximize profit but telling lies to grow that profit by 20× and above is humanly wrong, unGodly and completely out of business line.

Telling lies sometimes is not something sinful or bad to be precised, sometimes lies are told to avoid some certain circumstances and happenings.
Lies are often told most times to avoid misunderstandings, arguments, fights, e.tc. But having said that, let's try to utilize these lies in the right for the safety and peace to humanity.
I invite @nsijoro, @basil20 and @edu-chemist to participate
Thank you all for your time 💯✍️ |
